For those not familiar with Robert Ready, he was employed by the British Museum in 1859 to re-produce the important coins and medals in their collection. These pieces are made with such quality, they are incredibly hard to tell apart from the original items. This is is initialled 'RR' on the edge - for Robert Ready.
These Silver Oval portrait medals are both rare and incredibly sought after, this piece has an entire history of its own having been taken from the one in the British Museum over 150 years ago, and looks every bit as good as the 400 year old original. Those originals are rarely offered, and when they are fetch many thousands of pounds.
