1798 Davison's medal for Nelsons Victory at the Battle of the Nile Silvered AE with copper shells
47 mm by Kuchler
Obverse: Pax with olive branch standing left on shoreline outcrop, with shield under left arm bearing bust of Nelson and legend: "EUROPE'S HOPE AND ENGLAND'S GLORY"
Reverse: Fleet off shore with rising sun in background; exergue inscription reads: "Victory of the Nile / August 1, 1798"
An intriguing medal, weighing 40 grams (the same as a bronze example) I believe this to be silvered AE rather than solid silver. Complete with the original copper shells, as issued by the Soho mint when manufactured.
